MAPPING Payload Could Not Be Read

The payload could not be converted into a fiscal invoice — a field is the wrong shape or a value could not be read.

This code comes from ThatFiscal, not from ZIMRA. Nothing was submitted, so there is no rejected receipt on your record and no gap in your numbering.

Why It Happens

This is a ThatFiscal error, not a ZIMRA one, and that distinction matters: nothing was submitted. It is raised by the pre-flight check when the incoming document cannot be turned into a valid receipt — a quantity that is not a number, a currency that is not three letters, a date that will not parse.

What FDMS Is Checking

ThatFiscal's own validation, before anything reaches FDMS.

What ThatFiscal Does About It

This is the prevention. Catching it here is what stops it becoming a rejected receipt against your device.

How to Fix It

  1. Read the message — it names the exact field.
  2. Correct it in the source system, or in your API call, and resend.
  3. Nothing reached ZIMRA, so there is no credit note to raise and no gap in your numbering.

Not Using ThatFiscal Yet?

ThatFiscal is a cloud virtual fiscal device for Zimbabwe. It catches most of these before anything reaches ZIMRA, so you see a message instead of a refused receipt on your record. No hardware to buy.
