RCPT043 Incomplete Buyer Details
Buyer data is incomplete. If a buyer is declared at all, ZIMRA requires both the registered name and the TIN.
This code comes from ZIMRA. FDMS validated the receipt and refused it.
Why It Happens
This one surprises people, because it is triggered by giving ZIMRA more information rather than less. The buyer block is optional on a receipt — but if it is present it must be complete. A name with no TIN is a partial declaration, and FDMS refuses it.
What FDMS Is Checking
If buyerData is present, both buyerRegisterName and buyerTIN are populated.
What ThatFiscal Does About It
ThatFiscal never lets this refuse a sale. When a customer has a name but no TIN, the name is moved into the receipt notes instead of the buyer block, so the buyer's name still prints on the invoice and the receipt still goes through. That is the correct treatment for a cash sale to an individual.
How to Fix It
- Add the buyer's 10-digit TIN to the customer record and resend.
- If they genuinely have no TIN — an individual, a cash sale — leave the TIN blank. ThatFiscal handles it; you do not need to delete the customer's name.

Not Using ThatFiscal Yet?
ThatFiscal is a cloud virtual fiscal device for Zimbabwe. It catches most of these before anything reaches ZIMRA, so you see a message instead of a refused receipt on your record. No hardware to buy.
