RCPT030 Receipt Date Earlier Than the Previous Receipt

The receipt date is earlier than a receipt already submitted in this fiscal day.

This code comes from ZIMRA. FDMS validated the receipt and refused it.

Why It Happens

Receipts within a fiscal day must move forward in time. FDMS checks each receipt's timestamp against the last one accepted, and a receipt dated earlier breaks the ordering the day's signature chain depends on.

What FDMS Is Checking

receiptDate is not earlier than the previous accepted receipt in the open fiscal day.

What ThatFiscal Does About It

ThatFiscal stamps the real submission time rather than trusting a date-only field from the source system. Zoho Books, for example, sends a date with no time, which resolved to midnight and blocked every invoice after the first one of the day.

How to Fix It

  1. Do not back-date invoices in the source system.
  2. If you are calling the API directly, drop the explicit date and let ThatFiscal stamp it.
  3. Resend.

Not Using ThatFiscal Yet?

ThatFiscal is a cloud virtual fiscal device for Zimbabwe. It catches most of these before anything reaches ZIMRA, so you see a message instead of a refused receipt on your record. No hardware to buy.
